What are the differences between tennis and padel balls?

WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TENNIS AND PADDLE TENNIS BALLS?

1. THE MEASURES

With the tennis and paddle regulations in hand we appreciate that the measurements can be different. Regarding the diameter of a tennis ball, it must be greater than 6,35 cm and less than 6,67 cm while the paddle ball must be greater than 6,35 cm and less than 6,77 cm. In short, paddle balls can be 10 cm longer.

2. THE WEIGHT

The same as in the previous section happens with weight. The tennis ball must weigh between 56,7 and 58,5 grams and the paddle tennis between 56 and 59,5 grams.

3. THE PRESSURE

The pressure on the paddle balls is less, which causes the game to be somewhat slower and bounce less. Specifically, the paddle ball must have an internal pressure between 4,6 and 5,2 Kg for each 2,54 cm2. In tennis, the balls have to be subjected to a load of 8,165 Kg per 2,54 cm2.

4. THE REBOUND

The tennis ball must have a rebound between 135 and 145 cm when dropped on a hard surface from a certain height of 2,54 meters, while in paddle the rebound must be between 135 and 147 cm. Present the peculiarity that tennis, when played around the world, can vary in pressure depending on the altitude of the place where you are going to play.

5. STRIKING COLOURS

In Paddle tennis we can find balls of more striking colours such as oranges or roses. Despite this, in tournaments they can prohibit the use of these types of balls since the regulations state that only yellow and white balls must be used, as is the case with tennis.
